Allotment progress

It's been over a month since we took possession of our allotment, and we've been busy digging, building and planting whenever we can, and whenever the weather has allowed. Due to the position of the allotment, it may be a warm and sunny day at home but as soon as you get down to there it feels like it's blowing a gale. It's nice having that breeze when you're busy digging and weeding though, and it's certainly helped with the tan.

We've come a long way since we were first faced with a field of weeds at the beginning of last month, and many fellow allotmenteers (if that wasn't a word it is now) have commented on how well we've done. The best way to show that progress is through images, so here are a few pictures taken over the past month or so.

OUR FIRST CAULIFLOWER

As you can see, everything is coming along nicely. We've had 3 lovely little strawberries so far, and can see our first courgette and a few tiny cauliflowers are emerging.

We've also planted some onions, garlic and shallots and a few tomato plants in another raised bed. We've got space for another couple of raised beds which will hopefully house our beetroot, parsnip & pepper seedlings - and we just have to pray that we don't get hit by blight or the bugs don't eat it all!
